An annual gathering of critical thinkers lead by followers of James Randi. The conference focuses on science, skepticism, and critical thinking. Key presenters include scientific educators, magicians, and comedians.
What’s the Problem
When James Randi retired at 86 years of age, his followers wanted to continue his legacy by educating everyday people through a conference open to all thinkers. Randi’s original mission remained the same; give people the tools to decipher between what is considered meaningless noise and what are considered meaningful patterns. However, to be successful at continuing this legacy, they needed to attract some of the hard-core skeptics and followers of The Amazing Randi.

ENGAGE CRITICAL THINKING
ThinkBox’s trademark evolves around the brain being a tool box for critical thinking. When research was done into patternicity, the idea was for the letterform to emerge from a pattern, which also creates a box. In other words, a thinking tool emerging from the mind. This illusion mixes critical thinking with entertainment and gives participants a taste of what’s embodied in the conference.
GAIN A FOLLOWING
James Randi is adopted as a character and mascot to immediately gain interest in the conference. His likeness and photograph will be used on advertising and touchpoints throughout the event. Using glyphs, a meaningful pattern was created. The brain uses much of its power to perceive randomness as a meaningful object.
